How our reports are sourced

Each sector has a members’ report of about 25 pages that goes well beyond the dashboard. Across the ten reports we cite 580 sources. Every one is listed below, tagged by who published it, in the order it is cited in the report. Current editions use data as of October 26, 2026.

Where we look first

Every source is tagged with one of these five types
  1. Official data. Federal agencies and other official bodies: EIA, Treasury, CBO, BLS, Census, USGS, CMS, NCES, USAspending, grid operators, MSRB. U.S. government data is in the public domain, and it is our first choice for every statistic.
  2. Company. SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), results releases, investor presentations and earnings calls.
  3. Research. Industry bodies, national laboratories, universities, rating agencies and asset managers' research.
  4. Market data. Market-data providers, used only for share prices, fund data and analyst consensus, with one cutoff date per table.
  5. News. News and trade-press reporting, for events and context that have no primary record of their own.

Our rules

  • Cite the original. When a website repackages official data, we find the agency table and cite that instead.
  • Check every figure against the source named, at the date named. When the original disagrees with a secondary source, the original wins and the text changes.
  • Never cite what we have not seen. A headline or a paywalled page does not support a number. If a figure or a credit rating cannot be confirmed, we leave it out or show a dash.
  • Label our own judgment. Scenario odds, pressure ratings and the calls we make are Point75’s views and are marked as such. Each call names the public source it will be graded on.
  • Paraphrase, don’t reproduce. We cite copyrighted research for facts and never quote it at length.
