About the dataU.S. EIA · public domain · refreshed monthly

Net generation by fuel for the whole U.S. (all sectors) and average retail prices by customer type, monthly from January 2001, from the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s open data. “Other” gathers petroleum, biomass, geothermal and smaller sources. Shares over the last twelve months smooth out the seasons: summer air conditioning and winter heating move monthly totals a lot.

EIA does not state a release date for each month, so the date shown is when Point75 first saw the month (2026-10-25). EIA data is in the public domain.

How the takeaway is decided

  • Home price growth over 6% a year is Rising fast, over 3% Rising, within ±1% or up to 3% Steady, below that Falling.
  • Wind and solar's share is Growing or Shrinking when it moves more than 0.5 points in a year.
  • Demand is Growing or Falling when generation is more than 2% above or below a year earlier.

The words and colours come from these rules, applied to the newest data on every update; they describe the data and are not advice.
